The Fairy's Mistake

When two sisters, Rosella and Myrtle, encounter the fairy Ethelinda in disguise, Rosella helps her and Myrtle is rude to her. Ethelinda rewards Rosella with the ability to produce gems when she speaks and punishes Myrtle by having bugs and snakes and gross animals come out of her mouth when she speaks. But the reward and the punishment do not work out like Ethelinda had planned.

Rosella’s jewels are all taken by her greedy husband, Prince Harold, and Myrtle uses her “punishment” to get whatever she wants from people. But it all works out in the end. I loved when Rosella and Myrtle work together to make their lives better and trick Prince Harold into being nice to Rosella. That part was awesome.

Levine’s retelling of this fairy tale is fantastic. It is short, but definitely worth a read. I give this story 4 stars.
